
Dr. Kate McKechnie PT, DPT, CFMT
Founder & Owner
Dr. Kate McKechnie was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. In 2006, she graduated from Northwestern University, receiving her BS in Biological Sciences with a concentration in physiology. Dr. McKechnie then moved to New York for a graduate program in physical therapy at Long Island University-Brooklyn. In 2014 she graduated top of her class with the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Upon graduating, Dr. McKechnie worked in several locations for a Chicago-based outpatient clinic, specializing in providing high quality manual therapy interventions. During this time, she attended continuing education courses through the Institute of Physical Art and was accepted to sit for a certification exam. Passing with Honors, she became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) in 2016. Additionally, Dr. McKechnie completed coursework with Kinetacore (now Evidence In Motion) to become certified in Functional Dry Needling.
Starting in 2016, Dr. McKechnie began The Pelvic Floor Series with Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Women’s Health Rehabilitation has become a passion in her physical therapy practice. Dr. McKechnie loves helping women gain a deeper understanding of their pelvic floor and how it functions with the rest of the body. She believes her comprehensive knowledge, as well as a holistic style of assessment and treatment of the whole body is integral to how she assists clients in resolving and managing their movement-related dysfunctions and maintaining general wellness.
